Talk:Main Page

From Quake Wiki

Semi official FTEQW wiki

Since the FTEQW engine is seriously lacking in documentation (and the main author seems to hate writing or maintaining documentation or a website), it would be nice if this wiki could be expanded to included a FTEQW wiki. Of course it could be hidden under the FTE engine entry, but I think this semi-official wiki would be prominent enough to warrant it's own top level menu entry on the left side. However I don't just want to add it without getting some feedback from the site owner first if this is ok and will not be reverted.--PoVoq (talk) 13:18, 23 October 2017 (UTC)

ok seems fine according to the site owner on insideqc.com, but how to add a new section in the side bar menu? --192.168.4.142 16:55, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
Here you go: MediaWiki:Monaco-sidebar. Don't call me owner, I just host it. ;) --Spirit (talk) 18:52, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
Thanks but that gives me a "You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason: This page provides interface text for the software on this wiki, and is protected to prevent abuse."--PoVoq (talk) 14:25, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
I made you admin, because why not. Now you should be able to edit it I hope? I recommend content first though. --Spirit (talk) 17:23, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
Uh, ok awesome. Works now. Will not missuse the trust placed in me of course :) --PoVoq (talk) 13:42, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

Layout

Someone with more wikifu arrange this page to have multiple columns of info per row? Its a long frontpage with not a whole lot past the very left side. I'm looking at you Sajt, since I just tried to mimic the frontpage wiki of another project and things looked a little... crazy. Just looks kind of silly right now having so much dead space in the middle and the right side. --Scar3crow 17:58, 3 November 2007 (CDT)

Yup. I'm going to worry about that once the old stuff is moved. As it is now, it's easier to easily remove or add things, so we can finalize what should be on the main page... --Sajt 16:51, 4 November 2007 (CST)

Organization

I just created what I think is a pretty decent skeleton for the site, using links on the front page.

  • Anything in parenthesis are just comments that we should remove eventually.
  • The two-level-deep bullet list is about as detailed as I think we should get, any additional levels of detail should only be sublinks on the front pages of the appropriate category.
  • Engine Development needs a few more children, I just wasn't sure what additional categories were important enough to list here.

Okay, it's all in a table now, and I used the quakesrc.org TOC as a guide for rearranging some categories. --Metlslime 02:49, 14 November 2008 (CST)

QuakeDev Closing

Given that QuakeDev is soon to be no more, where is the wiki moving to? -- Karatorian 05:44, 20 May 2011 (CDT)

Quake Vinyl Soundtrack

Hi there,

I recently stumbled across The Quake Wiki while looking for screenshots for the Quake vinyl soundtrack booklet that was released on the NIN store. The booklet, apparently due to issues with Zenimax, was only available as a pdf and includes a whole mess of "unauthorized images" that are purposely blurred due to said issues. I was wondering if anyone here wouldn't mind taking a look at the pdf to see if you have any clue which screenshots should be used, or if you might be able to find suitable replacements that might correspond to the missing images. The community on Reddit has done a fantastic job so far, but if anyone has the time to check it out, I would love your input. This seems like a very knowledgeable community so if you want to pass it along, that would be fantastic. Everyone involved is hoping to recreate the booklet to the quality the game deserves, so any help would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks so much for your time.

Here's the link on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/nin/comments/iv40u3/recreating_quake_liner_notes_images/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

The archived link is right at the top of the thread with both the original and the replaced image versions as well as the discussion relating to the project. By the way, if you're already aware and possibly involved--sorry for wasting your time.

Question

Why is the main page unprotected? As far as I know, it's leaving it vulnerable to vandalism, as shown in the past. -- PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 19:07, 14 March 2022 (CET)
