The Lightning gun, ''Thunderbolt'' or ''Shaft'' is only available in the registered version of quake. It fires a short-ranged bolt of lightning similar to the [[Shambler]]'s attack. Don't fire it under water, or it will explode, killing you and anyone else in the water nearby. (Unless, of course, you have the [[Pentagram of Protection]]. Try it on [[dm3]] sometime. It's great fun.)

Note: the thunderbolt underwater effect does damage in a radius around the player, and doesn't actually check to see if targets are also underwater, so you can actually kill people out of the water with this attack.
